McDonald’s Offers $15 Gift Card for Sharing Your First Job Story

McDonald's is launching a new campaign that puts the spotlight on first jobs and the skills people gain from them.
Starting March 6, the brand is rolling out the “First Job Confessional,” a reality TV-style experience where fans can share stories about their first job for a chance to score a free gift card.
The campaign begins on National Employee Appreciation Day (March 6) and invites people to record short videos about what they learned from their first job.
How the First Job Confessional Works
At select pop-up locations, you’ll step up to what looks like a McDonald’s ordering kiosk.
Instead of ordering food, you can record a video about your first job and the skills you learned.
Participants at in-person events can receive a $15 McDonald’s gift card while supplies last.
You can also participate online by posting your story with the hashtag #FirstJobConfessional. Some videos may be featured on McDonald’s YouTube channel.
The campaign highlights how early jobs can help build skills like teamwork, communication, and time management.
According to the company, 1 in 8 Americans have worked at McDonald’s, learning skills they later take into other industries.
Pop-Up Confessional Tour Dates
The First Job Confessional booth will appear in several cities throughout 2026:
March 6 - 7: New York City (Gansevoort Plaza, 38 Gansevoort St.)
March 15 - 17: Austin, TX
April 23: Pittsburgh, PA
July 28 - 29: Chicago, IL
The kickoff event in New York starts Friday, March 6 at 2 p.m. ET and continues Saturday, March 7 starting at 1 p.m.
Campaign Partner
McDonald’s is teaming up with TV personality Olandria Carthen to promote the campaign.
Carthen shared that her first job as a babysitter helped her develop multitasking and communication skills, something she says reflects the experience many people have with their first jobs.
The company says the campaign is meant to celebrate how first jobs can build real-world skills that carry into future careers, whether you stay in the restaurant industry or move into fields like tech, healthcare, or education.
