Philadelphia Launches Lactose-Free Cream Cheese Bricks

Philadelphia is introducing its first lactose-free cream cheese, giving lactose-intolerant and lactose-avoidant consumers a new option that uses real dairy.

Available in the brand's classic brick format, Philadelphia Lactose Free is made with the same fresh milk and real cream as the original cream cheese. It uses the enzyme lactase to break down lactose while keeping the same flavor and texture. The new cream cheese also contains no added preservatives, flavors, or dyes.

Philadelphia says the lactose-free version can be used as a one-to-one substitute for its original cream cheese in recipes, including bagels, cheesecakes, dips, sandwiches, pasta dishes, and more.

The new Philadelphia Lactose Free cream cheese will begin rolling out to major retailers nationwide in August at the same suggested price as the brand's original cream cheese brick.

The launch marks the first lactose-free cream cheese from a major U.S. cream cheese brand.
