OCOOPA is recalling about 1.5 million rechargeable hand warmers in the U.S. after reports that the lithium-ion batteries can overheat and catch fire.
The recall covers OCOOPA Rechargeable Hand Warmers in models UT3053, UT3056, ZLS-118, ZLS-118S, ZLS-118D, H01, and H01(PD). The rechargeable hand warmers were sold in packs of two with magnetic sides that snap together, a USB-C charging port, adjustable heat settings, LED indicator lights, and a silicone lanyard. "OCOOPA" is printed on the top of each warmer, while the model number and three-digit batch number appear on the underside.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), OCOOPA has received 1,480 reports of the hand warmers overheating. Those incidents resulted in 15 fires, 350 burn injuries, and one reported death involving an 83-year-old consumer in San Diego in February 2026.
The recalled hand warmers were sold online through Amazon, OCOOPA, OCOOPA.net, and Walmart.com from September 2018 through May 2026 for between $15 and $60.
Consumers should stop using the recalled hand warmers immediately and contact OCOOPA for a full refund, either to the original payment method or as an OCOOPA gift card. To receive a refund, customers must write "RECALLED" on the hand warmer with permanent marker and submit a photo showing the marking along with the model number and three-digit batch number.
Because the products contain defective lithium-ion batteries, they should not be thrown in the trash or placed in regular recycling bins. Consumers should dispose of them through local household hazardous waste programs that accept defective lithium-ion batteries.
