Rita’s Celebrates First Day of Spring 2026 with Free Italian Ice and New Mystery PEEPS Flavor


Spring officially starts on March 20, 2026, and Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard is marking the occasion with its annual freebie.

On Friday, March 20, you can stop by any of Rita’s 600 plus locations nationwide and get a free 6-ounce Italian Ice.

The chain expects to give away around one million cups as part of the yearly First Day of Spring tradition.

Rita’s locations are already open for the season as of March 1, serving freshly made Italian Ice and Frozen Custard.

New Mystery PEEPS Italian Ice Flavor Arrives March 20

To go along with the giveaway, Rita’s is teaming up with PEEPS to introduce a new Mystery PEEPS Italian Ice Flavor starting March 20, 2026.

The limited time flavor is inspired by a PEEPS marshmallow variety and delivers the brand’s signature marshmallow sweetness in Italian Ice form. The twist is that the exact flavor is being kept secret.

Here is what to know:

  • The Mystery PEEPS Ice will be served as a white Italian Ice.

  • The flavor will not be revealed during the promotion.

  • It is one of seven new Italian Ice flavors debuting in 2026.

Rita’s is also offering a PEEPS Marshmallow Chick topper this spring. You can add it to any treat for an extra marshmallow touch.

Mystery PEEPS Flavor Guessing Contest

From March 20 through March 29, 2026, you can submit your guess for the Mystery PEEPS Italian Ice Flavor at ritasice.com/peeps for a chance to win prizes.

Five winners will be selected at random from all eligible correct entries. Prizes include:

No purchase is necessary. The sweepstakes is open to U.S. residents 13 and older and runs from March 20 to March 29, 2026. The approximate retail value of the prize is $565.
