Garrett Popcorn Shops, a Chicago-based popcorn brand, is partnering with Mike's Hot Honey to launch a limited-time ready-to-eat popcorn that combines sweet kettle-style crunch with a savory, spicy kick.
The new mix builds on Garrett’s long-running sweet and savory approach, similar to its Garrett Mix, which blends caramel and cheese popcorn. This version adds Mike’s Hot Honey for a layered sweet-heat profile.
The popcorn is made in small batches using two preparation styles:
- One batch is kettle-cooked, coated with hot honey, and finished with spiced seasoning for a sweet crunch
- A second batch is seasoned with hot honey spices for a more savory, spicy element
- The two are combined for a mix of sweet, savory, and heat in each bite
Garrett Popcorn Shops, founded in Chicago in 1949, has built its brand on small-batch production methods and signature recipes. Meanwhile, Mike’s Hot Honey started in a Paulie Gee's in 2010 and has since expanded into a widely distributed condiment brand.
The new Garrett Popcorn with Mike’s Hot Honey is rolling out at grocery retailers starting this month, including Jewel-Osco, Albertsons, World Market, Strack & Van Til, and Niemann Foods, with additional availability planned this fall at Roundy's and Mariano's.
