Portillo’s turns up the heat for May 2026 with the introduction of the new Hot & Saucy Italian Beef Sandwich, available at participating locations nationwide through May 31, 2026.
The Hot & Saucy Italian Beef Sandwich features the brand’s signature thin-sliced, slow-roasted Italian beef topped with hot giardiniera peppers and a new creamy, zesty hot giardiniera sauce, all served on fresh Turano French bread. The result is a spicier, tangier take on the chain’s classic sandwich.
The new menu item follows growing demand for spicy foods. Research from Datassential finds that 65 percent of Americans enjoy spicy flavors, while Rubix Foods reports that 48 percent of younger consumers prefer spicy versions of menu items when available.
To support the launch, Portillo’s is offering a limited-time deal for Portillo’s Perks members: customers who purchase the sandwich by May 31 can receive a $5 off $20 bounce-back reward valid for 14 days.
New loyalty members can also score a free large order of fries with a qualifying purchase.
The Hot & Saucy Italian Beef Sandwich represents the first major update to Portillo’s Italian beef lineup since the introduction of Beef Bowls in 2020 and taps into the ongoing trend of bold, globally inspired flavors across fast-casual menus.
