Raaw Energy Recalls Pet Food Products Over Possible Listeria Contamination

Raaw Energy has issued a voluntary recall of multiple frozen pet food products after potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, according to a public safety notice released by the company.

The recall covers products manufactured between July 17, 2025 and December 23, 2025, along with an additional batch dated March 31, 2026 for Beef and Turkey Medley. While not all products in the time range tested positive, the company said some batches were not tested and contamination was identified within the same production window.

Out of caution, consumers are being urged not to use, sell, or feed any affected products and to dispose of them immediately.

The recalled items include a wide range of frozen raw pet food blends sold in 2-pound and 5-pound plastic tubes, distributed to customers in Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Products were primarily sold through direct online ordering and pickup.

Affected varieties include multiple formulations such as Beef and Chicken, Turkey Medley, Salmon blends, Duck, Green Tripe, and other protein combinations, each tied to specific production dates listed in the recall notice.

Testing conducted with the New Jersey Department of Agriculture found that some samples tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can cause serious illness in both humans and animals.

The company warns that humans can be exposed through handling contaminated pet food or surfaces, while pets may become infected even without showing symptoms. Infections can cause gastrointestinal illness and, in severe cases, more serious complications.

Consumers are advised to thoroughly wash hands and sanitize any surfaces that may have come into contact with recalled products.

As part of its response, Raaw Energy said it will temporarily pause all dog food production beginning May 21, 2026. The company also plans facility sanitation upgrades, expanded quality control measures, and the introduction of batch-by-batch pathogen testing before production resumes.

The company stated the recall and production pause are being taken to address safety concerns and improve long-term product quality.
