John B. Sanfilippo & Son, Inc. is voluntarily recalling several snack mix products sold under the Fisher, Southern Style Nuts, Squirrel Brand, and Good & Gather labels over possible Salmonella contamination linked to recalled dry milk powder supplied by California Dairies, Inc.
According to the company, the affected seasoning used in the products previously tested negative for Salmonella before production. The recall is being issued as a precaution after the seasoning supplier disclosed that the dry milk powder ingredient had been recalled.
No illnesses connected to the recalled products have been reported so far.
The recalled products were sold at retail stores, through e-commerce, and on QVC. The Good & Gather item was sold at Target stores nationwide.
Affected products include:
- Fisher Tex Mex Trail Mix (30 oz)
- Southern Style Nuts Gourmet Hunter Mix (23 oz and 36 oz)
- Southern Style Nuts Hunter Mix (30 oz)
- Squirrel Brand Travelers Mix (16 oz)
- Squirrel Brand Town & Country Mix (16 oz and 7.5 oz)
- Good & Gather Mexican Street Corn Trail Mix (8 oz)
Consumers are advised not to eat the recalled products and should return them to the place of purchase for a full refund or replacement.
Salmonella infections can cause symptoms including fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Severe cases may lead to more serious complications, particularly among young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems.
